Prayer, Fasting, Surrendering & Letting God Act:

From the Desk of A Friend of Medjugorje

There is so much good that comes from fasting. It has a great deal to do with defeating satan, but it is God who does it. Satan cannot do except that which God allows. Through fasting, we move God to bind satan. God is sensitive to hearts that deny their hunger because of love for Him, and so God reciprocates by granting grace to kill satan’s plans or hold on us. Three things are necessary for God to do this:

1. Prayer
2. Fasting
3. Surrendering and letting God act.

Our Lady said on April 17, 1986:

“Pray, fast and let God act.”

It is almost incomprehensible the power that is available to us. A power which all armaments, such as weapons, bombs, ships, missiles, aircraft, and troops from all the armies of the world combined together, now in the present as well as all past history’s armaments, does not equal to one person’s fasting from the heart for one day. For all those things cannot move God to grant a request. Yet one man with a pure fast from the heart, full of love, can move all of Heaven into action. It can boggle the mind to see all the world’s medical technology, the best specialists in the world confront an incurable disease and be defeated, only to be outshined and confounded by a simple cure brought about by fasting and prayer.

How is it we are so privileged to be given such a profoundly wonderful gift. Fasting, if viewed as a burden, will gain you nothing. It is a gift to be allowed to do it, a gift given by our good God who then responds to it by answering our prayers.

Please pray and consider joining the Community of Caritas for the 9-Day bread and water Medjugorje Fasting Novena from October 25, 2010 to November 2, 2010. It is a gift you can give to God and Our Lady that you will never regret. Visit this page for more information on the 9-day bread and water Worldwide Medjugorje Fasting Novena.

Bread Day in Medjugorje

Bread Day in Medjugorje

Today is Dani Kruha or The Day of Bread in Medjugorje. Each year the school children from Medjugorje bring freshly baked bread to the school yard and make it available for the villagers and pilgrims alike to receive for a donation. The money raised this year is to be used to purchase much needed equipment for the school. For all the pilgrims who witnessed this Day of Bread here in Medjugorje, it brings to a deeper reality the importance and power of fasting and why it is one of the main messages of Our Lady Queen of Peace of Medjugorje.
