Here's a great story to pass on to others.

It's an impressive figure: Seven million rosaries are made annually by Our Lady's Rosary Makers volunteers.

Kingsburg resident Joe Tucker is among the volunteers -- 17,000 strong who make rosaries for the Louisville, Ky.-based nonprofit which are distributed to missionaries worldwide.

Tucker, 83, began making the plastic bead rosaries 12 years ago. He also makes green scapulars worn as a reminder of the Virgin Mary's loving care and protection.

"On average, it takes me 1 1/2 hours to make 10 rosaries," he says. "I have made thousands of them."

Tucker's wife, Eve, is happy her husband has an activity to occupy his time.
"It's his hobby," she says. "It keeps him busy and out of mischief."
