CMMB: Your Weekly Reflection in Prayer [St. Joseph]

Weekly prayer reflection for Winter

“We are truly God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to lead the life of good deeds which God prepared for us in advance.”

St. Joseph, Husband of Mary
Dear John,
The Church sets before us saints, to be models, examples of the God, Who works in others can also work in and shape us. Today we turn to St. Joseph, husband of Mary. We read of the good deeds of Joseph in the gospel of Matthew, as he protects and cares for Mary and the Christ Child. Yet the Scriptures give us no word, not one single word that he spoke. Joseph serves to call all of us to be men and women of action, to speak to others with words, but perhaps more importantly, with good deeds. Indeed, the proverb reminds us, and St. Joseph shows us that “actions speak louder than words.”

St_joseph

O God, Who from the family of Your servant David raised up Joseph to be the guardian of Your Incarnate Son and the spouse of the Virgin Mother, give us grace to imitate His uprightness of life and His obedience to Your command; we ask this through Your Son, Christ our Lord.
Amen.
