St. Pope Pius X

Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! I wish also today to call you to live the messages in the parish. Especially I wish to call the youth of the parish, who are dear to me. Dear children, if you live the messages, you are living the seed of holiness. I, as a Mother, wish to call you all to holiness so that you can bestow it on others. You are a mirror to others! Thank you for having responded to my call." (October 10, 1985)

The seeds of holiness! Seeds are wonderful things. They are small and seemingly inert. They don't look alive. They don't look like the plant they will become. They are just seeds. But when they are planted and watered and warmed by the sun, they break open and a new plant emerges, full of promise. I think it is wonderful that God created seeds! They are His little magic act!

And I love it that Jesus compared the Kingdom of God to seeds (cf. Matt 13). The sower (God) sows the seed (His gift of life) in all kinds of soil, and the results depends on the soil's ability to nurture the seeds, to be a fertile spot for those seeds to grow. When the seeds of God's life are sown in our hearts, they need to be received with joy and trust, and given space to grow in us. Our "yes" gives them that space to grow and the fertile soil to flourish in.

Our Lady has come to sow seeds in us anew. She is helping the Lord to replant His garden with new life, the life of the Spirit. She is sowing the seeds of life in our hearts, and nurturing us so that those seeds will grow and bear fruit. We must receive the seeds she sows, and say "yes".

Ivan spoke about those seeds (the messages) in Kalamazoo last winter:

What are those things to which our mother is calling us? What are those most important messages by which Our Lady is leading us? You know that throughout these 30 years Our Lady has given us very many messages. But if we were to focus just on the most important messages, I would like to emphasize these messages by which Our Lady is guiding us:

Peace

Conversion

Prayer of the Heart

Penance and Fasting

Strong Faith

Love

Eucharist

Forgiveness

Confession

The Message of HOPE

These are the most important messages through which Our Lady is guiding us.

These are some of the seeds of holiness that Our Lady is sowing in our hearts. When she sows them, they are just words. She says those words to us, and we must receive them in our hearts. Then we must let her tend them, by praying with her for guidance. She will show us how to live those words, how to adapt our behavior to let those words grow in our lives, our hearts, our relationships, etc. When we let Our Lady show us how to live those words, they take root, they send up shoots, they grow tall, and bear fruit, 30, 50, 100-fold!

Our lives become holy. And then others will see Jesus reflected in our mirror, the pattern of His life, His love, His glory! Our Lady longs for us to reflect her Son, so that all her children can find Him.

I just finished watching Episode 11, Fruit of Medjugorje, featuring Valentina from Ukraine. This young woman, filled with the seeds of holiness in Medjugorje, has begun a pro-life outreach in her homeland, Ukraine. With Our Lady's help, she now is bringing bus-loads of Ukrainian doctors to Medjugorje, for a time of retreat and reflection. The stories of conversion and redemption are amazing. Our Lady, the master physician, heals these doctors who have lived in a very godless society all their lives, giving them renewed dignity and peace. They return to Ukraine, ready to champion life in all its stages, ready to serve life. It is a fantastic fruit of Medjugorje, a fantastic work of God, begun in the heart of one young woman who received the seeds of holiness in Medjugorje!

God bless you,
