Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! I call you to, with complete trust and joy, bless the name of the Lord and, day by day, to give Him thanks from the heart for His great love. My Son, through that love which He showed by the Cross, gave you the possibility to be forgiven for everything; so that you do not have to be ashamed or to hide, and out of fear not to open the door of your heart to my Son. To the contrary, my children, reconcile with the Heavenly Father so that you may be able to come to love yourselves as my Son loves you. When you come to love yourselves, you will also love others; in them you will see my Son and recognize the greatness of His love. Live in faith! Through me, my Son is preparing you for the works which He desires to do through you - works through which He desires to be glorified. Give Him thanks. Especially thank Him for the shepherds - for your intercessors in the reconciliation with the Heavenly Father. I am thanking you, my children. Thank you." (March 18, 2013)

Tomorrow we may receive another message through Mirjana on the occasion of Our Lady's yearly apparition to her on March 18. In preparation for this encounter, I thought we might like to review the message Our Lady gave to us on March 18, 2013. As it turns out, I am very grateful to rediscover and reconsider this message. It is very timely for me!

Around the time this message was given last year, Denis and I decided to start going to weekly Confession. It just seemed that the graces of Confession were not to be passed up! We found ourselves every Saturday at Mass in a parish which also has Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and the Sacrament of Reconciliation available directly after Mass. To our amazement, we were able to go to Confession every Saturday, since the lines are not long. So, we began to go to Confession every week!!

I must say the effects have been good for me. I find that I can remember my sins more easily on a weekly basis. I also feel the grace of the Sacrament strongly during the following week and my good resolutions are easier to maintain. And above all, I am finally getting the message from the Lord that He forgives me, that He holds no forgiveness back, that He loves me so much that He would forgive me in Confession every day if I needed it!! I am beginning to really trust in His forgiving love. And the result is that I am starting to see myself differently. I am beginning ever so slowly to love myself as Jesus loves me, accept myself as Jesus accepts me and forgive myself as Jesus forgives me.

This is exactly what Our Lady was asking of us in the March 18, 2013 message! "My Son, through that love which He showed by the Cross, gave you the possibility to be forgiven for everything; so that you do not have to be ashamed or to hide, and out of fear not to open the door of your heart to my Son. To the contrary, my children, reconcile with the Heavenly Father so that you may be able to come to love yourselves as my Son loves you."

And here is the kicker! Our Lady said: "When you come to love yourselves, you will also love others..." (I am making a confession to all of you here!) All of my life I have had little love for myself. I have been really disappointed in myself, ashamed, sad and negative. And this negative attitude about myself has made it very hard for me to love others. When you don't love yourself, you have nothing to give others. Love is self-gift, giving yourself in service for others. Well, my self-gift has been pretty sorry. All the negativity inside me was being given along with the "love" I thought I was giving. I admit it. But, since weekly confession, I have begun to shed all the self-condemnation. Jesus doesn't condemn me, why should I. (see John 8: 10-11) I hope that as I grow in properly ordered self-love, I will be able to truly love my family and friends, and all those I meet.

It amazes me that one message in March, 2013, could have such an effect on me, but now that I look back, I see it. Our Lady began something in me that day for which I will thank her forever. Who knows what she will begin on Tuesday, when we receive her next message!

I hope I haven't shocked anyone, but what I am sharing is true. And Our Lady's message was right on for me. I needed to hear what she said, and it has become a pathway to much freedom for me. I believe her words are given to us to lead us on the path to freedom, freedom from sadness, fear, loneliness, sin, negativity and everything that distances us from God. We are being given a great grace in Our Lady of Medjugorje! Thanks be to God!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
