St Joseph the Worker

Dear Family of Mary!

"Dear children! Open your hearts to the grace which God is giving you through me, as a flower that opens to the warm rays of the sun. Be prayer and love for all those who are far from God and His love. I am with you and I intercede for all of you before my Son Jesus, and I love you with immeasurable love. Thank you for having responded to my call." (April 25, 2014)

Yesterday we prayed a Litany to Our Lady of Victory. I was really moved by that litany. We repeated the word "Triumphant" over and over again, in relation to the many moments in Our Lady's life. Here are a few:

Triumphant in the Embassy of the Angel Gabriel, Pray for us.
Triumphant in Thy Espousal to St. Joseph, Pray for us.
Triumphant at the Scene of Bethlehem, Pray for us.
Triumphant in Thy Flight Into Egypt, Pray for us.
Triumphant in Thy Exile, Pray for us.
Triumphant in Thy Humble Dwelling at Nazareth, Pray for us.
Triumphant in Finding Thy Divine Child in the Temple, Pray for us.
Triumphant in the Earthly Life of Our Lord, Pray for us.
Triumphant in His Passion and Death, Pray for us.
Triumphant in the Resurrection, Pray for us.
Triumphant in the Ascension, Pray for us.
Triumphant in the Descent of the Holy Ghost, Pray for us.
Triumphant in Thy Sorrows, Pray for us.
Triumphant in Thy Joys, Pray for us.
Triumphant in Thy Entrance into the Heavenly Jerusalem, Pray for us.

It strikes me that Our Lady triumphed at each moment of her life because she had total faith and trust in the Father. When the Angel Gabriel came to announce the coming of Jesus, she triumphed over fear, because even though she was becoming the Mother of God, it was a mystery and she would be alone with that mystery in the face of her family and the village. And she triumphed over the sin of Adam and Eve, because she remained faithful to God's will for her, rather than choose her own way like Adam and Eve.

Our Lady triumphed when she trusted St. Joseph to do the right thing in her regard, and allowed God to speak to him directly about the Baby instead of defending herself.

Our Lady triumphed over the world and the flesh in Bethlehem, accepting a cave as the place for the birth of the Savior.

She triumphed over anxiety, want and fear in the exile in Egypt, as she trusted St. Joseph and the Father to lead them safely while Herod lived. She triumphed over panic and even anger in the three day search for the young Jesus.

And we know only too well how she triumphed over sin and death in union with her Son, Jesus, during His Passion and Death and Resurrection.

Our Lady stood firm through all these trials and difficulties, trusting in the Father and saying "yes" to Him. And in that she became "Terrible in Battle". Why? Because she defeated the Devil utterly. She never let the enemy tempt her, distract her, scare her, or bully her into not trusting in the Father. She beat him. And now he is terrified of her.

Our Lady is now our sure protection as we walk through our lives. She knows what it is like to be tested, and she has the strength of an army against all temptation. If we stay very close to her, she will fight with us in our lives, helping us to triumph as well. The very things that look dark and sad and undesirable right now will become the shining victories in our story in heaven. Just like Our Lady, we will have a triumphant tale to tell, because Jesus is our Lord, and He is the Victor!!

I just wanted to share this today. I think St. Joseph is happy that Mary is honored in this way! Together they made quite a team!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
