I will never leave you....

Dear Family of Mary!

Let me share an interchange that Denis and I had during the Rosary on May 4 about the May 2, 2015 message:

"Dear children, open your hearts and try to feel how much I love you and how much I desire for you to love my Son. I desire for you to come to know him all the better, because it is impossible to know him and not to love him - because he is love...." (May 2, 2015)

(Cathy) For us to feel how much Our Lady loves us we need to know her as well. And she is revealing herself to us now through her messages, through her presence in Medjugorje and through all the beautiful things she is doing in the lives of the people who go to Medjugorje. This is a way to get to know her. And If we get to know her, we will learn to love her. We will understand how much she has loved us and we will love her back. It is the same with Jesus.
This is really like bonding, like a child who bonds with his parents or his siblings. A parent that is absent doesn't bond with their child, because the child never gets to know him. It is the parent that is close by, always there, answering their little cries, helping them solve problems, listening to them talk about things, that's the kind of parent who reveals himself to the child. Then the child knows the parent and loves the parent because he loves the child.

So a healthy family life is a good beginning or preparation for learning to love Jesus and Mary. But Jesus and Mary can skip over that (skip over the lack of a good family life) and do it directly, and Our Lady is doing it in Medjugorje in a special way. So we don't have to be worried about whether or not we have been prepared for this in our natural family. God wants to bond with us. Jesus wants to bond with us. Our Lady wants to bond with us through her daily presence in Medjugorje. We are being given a great gift.

(Denis) You know what, in the testimonies we are given (on Fruit of Medjugorje) we are being given little pieces of Our Lady's love, like facets on a diamond. Each testimony is beautiful and they are all so different.

Another way that Our Lady bonds with us is through the mysteries of the rosary. In them she reveals her life to us so we will know her better. If we pray on the mysteries with a sense of wanting to know Our Lady I think they will be more meaningful. They will reveal Our Mother to us, and we will really get to know her and love her and feel her love.

"...I, my children, know you. I know your pain and suffering because I lived through them. I laugh with you in your joy and I cry with you in your pain. I will never leave you. I will always speak to you with motherly tenderness." (May 2, 2015)

This is exactly what a mother who is bonding with her child would say. Some psychologists do a therapy called "bonding therapy". If there has been a break in the bonding of a mother and child, they will almost handcuff them together, so that they spend day and night together. The mother and child will sleep together, eat together, do everything together. In this way the child will experience the total presence of the mother again. There is a great deal of healing that can happen through this bonding time together.

Well here, Our Lady says "I know your pain and your suffering...I laugh with you in your joy and I cry with you in your pain. I will never leave you." There is nothing more clear here than her desire to bond with us. She is telling us that she is with us, though we don't know it, and if we became aware of it, it would be healing for us.

(Denis) You mentioned to me yesterday that whenever you see our daughter in law, Kristen, she always has her new baby, Peter, wrapped up close on her chest. I asked her when we first went to see her in the hospital, when the nurses gave her the baby after he was born. She said that they never took the baby away. Back in our day, the nurses took the baby away!

(Cathy) Yes, medical professionals have learned that those first hours after birth are critical. The child needs to be right next to its mother, hearing the heartbeat, hearing her voice, feeling her skin. That is what makes the baby feel safe. They may not have that feeling of alienation that most of us live with all our lives.

Once when I had prayed with someone who was suffering, I told them I felt that Jesus was holding them right next to His chest, like a mother bonding with her newborn. He was breathing words of love to the person, and letting this person hear His heartbeat, and it was powerful even for me to think about. Jesus and Mary want to bond with us like a mother and her newborn.

And that is what we need. We have lived lives, because of original sin, alienated from God. That means we are not right, we are not mentally, physically, emotionally, or spiritually correct. From the beginning we are not. But God is trying to bond with us. He sent Jesus to bond with us. Now He is sending Our Lady to complete it. She can help us because we don't know how to do it ourselves. She is attaching us to them both.

We want to feel your love, Mother Mary, and Jesus' love too!!

In Jesus, Mary and Joseph!
