“Why should we be afraid?”

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Saint Catherine Labouré, D.C.
Saint Catherine Labouré was born on May 2, 1806 at Fain-lès-Moutiers (France). She died on December 31, 1876 in Paris. Catherine was a Daughter of Charity who was favored with apparitions of the Virgin Mary in July and November 1830, during her novitiate, inside the chapel of the convent of the Rue du Bac in Paris. This event is the cause of the spread of the "Miraculous Medal," worn today by many Catholics. She was canonized in 1947 by Pope Pius XII.

On the day of her death she asked that 63 children recite around her bed each invocation of the Litany of Our Lady ... Catherine saw in the figure 63 the illustration of an oral tradition that attributes to the Virgin a life of 63 years: fifteen years on each side of Christ’s 33 years of life.

This is how Catherine wished to dedicate to Our Lady the 70 years of her own hard-working life, but also her happiness to go to heaven. “Why fear to go see Our Lord, his Mother and Saint Vincent?” These were some of Saint Catherine’s last words before she closed her blue eyes.
