Feast of the Most Holy Rosary

Our Lady:  Dear children, today you venerate me as the Lady of the Most Holy Rosary.  Today, I invite you to embrace the devotion of praying the Rosary as a family.  There is much suffering in your family, and the spirit of unconversion has infiltrated many of your loved ones.

Many of you continue to be fearful and anxious about the time in which you are living.  The spirit of modern technology continues to separate you as a family.  So many of you, my little ones, spend endless hours informing yourselves about the things that are happening in the world and this has become…

The Power of the Family Rosary

The Rosary is… and always has been, a prayer of and for the family. At one time this prayer was particularly dear to Christian families, and it certainly brought them closer together. It is important not to lose this precious inheritance. We need to return to the practice of family prayer and prayer for families, continuing to use the Rosary.

In my Apostolic Letter Novo Millennio Ineunte I encouraged the celebration of the Liturgy of the Hours by the lay faithful in the ordinary life of parish communities and Christian groups; (1) I now wish to do the same for the Rosary. These two paths of Christian contemplation are not mutually exclusive; they complement one another. I would therefore ask those who devote themselves to the pastoral care of families to recommend heartily the recitation of…

“See to the Last Dogma” – Message of Our Lady of All Nations, Oct. 11, 1953

This message of October 11, 1953 from the Lady of All Nations (Church approved apparition, May 31, 2002) emphasizes the universal call to pray the prayer of the Lady of All Nations as a powerful means for peace in the world. The message also reiterates the call for the Holy Father to “see to the last Marian dogma-the crowing of the Mother.” It has also been speculated that the repeated references to number fifty-three could be added to …

Mediatrix Because First Co-redemptrix

“Be it done unto me according to your word” (Lk. 1:38). Mary says “yes” to the Archangel Gabriel, and thus mediates to us the Redeemer to the world.

The role of the Blessed Virgin Mary as the “Mediatrix” cannot be separated from her prior role as the “Co-redemptrix.”  When the Church teaches that Mary is the “Mediatrix of all graces” it refers to her spiritual role of distributing the graces of the Redemption to humanity.  But this motherly role of dispensing the graces of the Redemption pre-supposes her role with Jesus in the obtaining of the graces of Redemption.

“Co-redemptrix” is a Marian title dating back to the 14th Century.  Pope Pius XI called Mary the Co-redemptrix on three occasions, and Blessed John Paul II did so on at least six occasions. Co-redemptrix refers to Mary’s unique participation with Jesus in obtaining the graces of redemption for humanity’s salvation.

Mary helped Jesus…

The 5th Marian Dogma and Peace in the World – May 31, 1954 message

In this May 31, 1954 message from the Lady of All Nations (ecclesiastical approval, May 31, 2002, see “Church Approves Apparitions of the Lady of All Nations” article), Our Lady calls both theologians, bishops and the faithful to “work and ask for this dogma. You should petition the Holy Father for this dogma.” She also explains that the titles Co-redemptrix, Mediatrix and Advocate are “three concepts in one,” that is three aspects of her one role as spiritual Mother of all humanity. Our Lady then gives the seer a vision of the proclamation of the dogma by the Holy Father in St. Peter’s Basilica and states “my prophecy that ‘all generations will call me blessed’ will be fulfilled more than ever once the Dogma has been proclaimed.” – Ed.

“Here I am again. The Co-redemptrix, Mediatrix and Advocate is now standing before you. I have chosen this day—on this day…

The Family Rosary: Practicality in Family Prayer

How can we practically involve our children in family prayer? What are ways that we can teach them the beauty of communing with Jesus in prayer, even though homework needs to be completed, dishes washed, pajamas put on little ones, and we may even want to reserve a few moments of peace and quiet for ourselves after a busy day? In my last article dealing with the Family Rosary (see article “The Family Rosary” in the Marian Devotion section) I identified the need for parents to make the call of the family Rosary heard, knowing the result will at times be met with resistance and indifference. For the encouragement of parents, I reminded the reader that the suffering encountered in family prayer is redemptive, and that its application in the home ensures that spiritual goods soak into the little hearts and minds of their children, even if parents feel…

Sister Lucia’s Rosary Meditations: The Sorrowful Mysteries

Having looked at the events in the life of Jesus, which are recalled in the first part of the Rosary, we now pass on to the second part, the five Sorrowful Mysteries.

First Sorrowful Mystery: The Prayer of Jesus in the Garden of Olives
In this mystery of the Rosary, we recall the prayer of Jesus Christ in the Garden of Olives.
The Gospels tell us that the Lord spoke several times during his public life of the way He was to die and thus accomplish the work of our redemption. When the time came, after He had celebrated the last Supper with his disciples, during which He instituted the Eucharist to perpetuate his real presence among us, and to prepare Himself for his imminent Passion and Death, He went with them to a place called Gethsemane and there He said to them:
“Sit here, while I go yonder to pray.”…

Blessed Bartolo Longo – Apostle of the Rosary

Sinner. Satanist. Social worker. Saint. A strange progression taken by Blessed Bartolo Longo. On February 11, 1841, a sweet tempered physician’s wife of Latiano, Italy, gave birth to a son whom she named Bartolo. Devoted to Our Lord and His Mother, she taught all her children to pray the Rosary daily and to visit and care for the poor while Dr. Longo instilled in them a love of music and beauty. Bartolo would later describe himself as “a lively and impertinent imp, sometimes rather a rascal.” The priests who educated him found Bartolo to be highly intelligent, cordial, and accommodating although prone to a fiery temper.

When Bartolo was ten, his mother died. Slowly Bartolo began to drift away from his faith. Eventually he studied law from a private tutor, then attended the University of…

The First Joyful Mystery – The Annunciation of the Lord (Lk 1:26-55)

Meditation

1. At last the heavens open and He whom the Prophets call the just one, the desired of the Patriarchs, the expectation of the nations, the one sent from God, descends into the world. The weeks of Daniel are accomplished, the prophecies of Jacob are fulfilled, for the scepter of Judah has already passed into the hands of Herod, a foreign king. A maiden, remaining a virgin, is to bring forth to the world a Man, who is the Son of the Most High.

My soul, do you understand what this means: the Word is made man? … O the endless goodness…
